Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as a reporter and anchor on WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. O'Dell later became morning news anchor at WCBD TV and also as the crime reporter. The journalist's report on the lack of police response in response to DUI cases in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. According to the Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell her Best Report of the year Award for all South Carolina media. In the years following her stay in Charleston, O'Dell worked as anchor for NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and also as an investigative reporter. She then was hired by Access Hollywood to work as the weekend and weekday correspondent. She also works as a co-anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She has reported on events like The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards in addition to hosting the Pre ShowArrivals Shows at The Emmys.
